Nightmares are said to be the process of trying to sort things out in life during the sleeping state of REM. During the day, these hard difficulties were pushed to the back of our minds with busy tasks and distractions at hand. However, when we are forced to be alone in the process of sleep, these worries and nervousness surfaced up to meet us.
Nightmares tend to occur in the last third of our sleep where we sleep at our deepest. Our dreams usually start of lightly and tend to become more serious towards the end. The idea is also seen in movies (as clearly as in inception), starting off slowly with an action-thrilling climax towards the end which left viewers with the feeling of satisfaction.
My 'Dream' sequence revolves around this same idea. The voices and camera cuts started to become faster and more frantic towards the end of Scott's dream. It somehow creates a sense of randomness and realism as one experiences in his or her dreams.
